It's a simple idea, but one that titillates that little bit of voyeur in all of us: Office Snapshots gives you an inside look (literally) into some of the major Web 2.0 and other big companies you read about every day.
The office of a hip publishing company in Old Saybrook, CT, not (yet) in Office Snapshots.
The website, which features the tagline "We know where you work," posts office photos submitted by workers at such companies as Craigslist, Digg, Facebook, Joost, LinkedIn, Pixar, Reuters, and WebMD, to name a few.
Some of the photos have a certain amount of "wow" factor, such as a wall of monitors at Reuters, the life-size statues of the Incredibles family in the lobby of Pixar, and the amazing murals on the walls and stairwells of Facebook. Other pictures are humorous, including a "Users Suck" marquee (allegedly) adorning a room used by Justin.tv, and a dog sticking its head in the trash at Wazup.
But many of the photos look remarkably similar, reminding us that it doesn't necessarily matter whether you are inside of WebMD or the ABC Widget Company -- sometimes office space is just office space.
We have no idea where Office Snapshots plans to go with this idea, but if they play their cards right, we could see them sporting some banner ads from Staples or IKEA. Otherwise, best drop by for a gawk before their 15 minutes is up.
