HR Strange But True!

People will go to great lengths to beat a workplace drug test, including a run to a convenience store to ask the clerk to heat up the urine they are trying to pass as their own, according to police in McKeesport, Pennsylvania.

The television station KDKA in Pittsburgh reports that the story started after a man and woman asked a convenience store clerk to heat in the store's microwave an object wrapped in paper towels. After heating the item in the microwave, the clerk discovered what he thought was a severed penis.

However, the object was a fake penis called the "Whizzinator," which is used to carry urine for passing a drug test, the McKeesport police tell KDKA. Police say the couple was trying to heat the fake penis so the urine would be at the same temperature as a legitimate sample and pass muster with the test administrator.

"Hands down the most bizarre. I've never come across anything like this before," says Joe Pero, police chief in McKeesport.

The case is made even stranger because it was the woman who says she was trying to use the prosthetic penis, police say. The woman told police that the man who entered the convenience store with her had filled the prosthetic penis with his urine for her to pass an employment drug test, KDKA reports.

Faithful readers of HR Strange But True! should remember the Whizzinator, which we first reported on in May 2005.
