HR Strange But True!
July 25, 2002

A Japanese train company has found a way to help its passengers relax after dealing with the stress of the workday and crowded train stations. Customers who book a seat on Fuji Kyuko's Friday night beer run can sit back and spend a two-hour trip by drinking as much beer as they want.

The beer train, as Reuters calls it, plies a route normally used by businesspeople and students.

"People are enjoying it so much, it is almost completely booked up throughout August," said Naotaka Nishiyama, a spokesman for the company.

Beer-drinking passengers are advised to take advantage of stops at stations along the route, since the train has no toilets.
