HR Strange But True!
June 14, 2007

A business owner in Belgium says that the reason he rejected a black applicant was that the business owner feared that his dog would bite the job seeker based on the color of his skin.

The employer said his dog was a racist and would bite non-whites, the De Standaard newspaper reports.

The job seeker, who is Nigerian, tells the newspaper that when he reached the office to interview for a welding job, he was greeted by a barking dog and was immediately turned away.

After the job seeker reported the incident, the labor office in Belgium removed the business from their list of potential employers.

"My dog is racist. Not me," the employer tells the newspaper.
