Earlier this month we reported on some of the strangest workplace gift swaps. The list included an array of oddities, some regifted, others used (ashtray, yuck!). That article made us think, where else are co-workers “shopping” for gifts? One reader answered: the supply closet!
Here’s their story:
“For several years in a row, everyone in my department would get some kind of office gizmo—a mini shredder, electric stapler, etc.
“When our manager was subsequently fired, we found out that he had been ordering our presents from our office supplies catalog and using the supplies budget number for the purchase.”
While office supplies are more useful than some other gifts we’ve heard about (e.g., a coffee mug that sang Dreidel, Dreidel), raiding the company supply closet is just plain strange.
