A former employee of the Hamilton, N.J., Police Department is suing the department's former chief, claiming he harassed her with a sexual fantasy in which he wanted her to play Little Red Riding Hood to his Big Bad Wolf.
In her lawsuit against retired Police Chief Richard Taylor, Dawn Bearce, 45, also claims that Taylor repeatedly tried to kiss her at work and made obscene gestures with his tongue.
An answering machine tape was played at the trial Wednesday on which a voice that Bearce identified as Taylor's was heard making various remarks, including, "Hi. It's the Big Bad Wolf saying good night. I'll talk to you tomorrow," The Times of Trenton reported.
Taylor's lawyer objected to Bearce's characterization of the Little Red Riding Hood/Big Bad Wolf scenario as a sexual fantasy.
Bearce contends she tried to discourage Taylor's alleged advances by wearing loose-fitting pantsuits instead of dresses. "And he'd say, `What are you, a nun now?' " The Times quoted Bearce as saying. She said she ended up taking the color red out of her wardrobe.
Bearce said she complained about Taylor in 2001 and took the tapes to Mayor Glen Gilmore. She said she appealed to the mayor for help, took some time off from work, and also asked for police protection, The Times reported.
