HR Strange But True!
January 21, 2005

Police in Conroe, Texas, have arrested the manager of Long John Silver's/A&W restaurant, accusing him of not only selling marijuana from his car in the restaurant's parking lot, but also of packaging it in Long John Silver's to-go boxes.

Police said they arrested the manager, John Sweeten, 31, after a surveillance operation. "As they watched, Sweeten set up shop and began selling marijuana in Long John Silver's to-go boxes," Sgt. Bob Berry told the Houston Chronicle. "He apparently would make deals in the parking lot."

Police said Sweeten made drug deals from his car, where he would measure the marijuana on scales. Once the customer gave him the money, he would put the drugs in the box and give it to the customer, Berry told the newspaper. A search of his car netted about 3 1/2 pounds of marijuana, scales, and to-go boxes. And in Sweeten's wallet, police found about $1,400.
