[in Your State]
State:
Probationary Periods

National Summary

Probationary appointments are used by the employer and employee to provide time to evaluate their relationship and determine whether it should continue. Probationary appointments should be clearly spelled out before the probationary period begins thereby eliminating all ambiguity about the status of the relationship. If the employer should decide to terminate the probationary employee, there should not be any problem as long as fraud is not an issue.
