New Labor Commissioner Gets to Work

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger recently appointed Angela Bradstreet as California's new labor commissioner. Bradstreet previously served as the managing partner for San Francisco-based corporate law firm Carroll, Burdick & McDonough. As labor commissioner, Bradstreet takes the helm at the Department of Industrial Relations within the Labor and Workforce Development Agency.

One of the initial projects under Commissioner Bradstreet is a public forum series to discuss meal and rest period issues. The first forum was held in early August in Sacramento, and a subsequent one for Southern California is in the planning stages. For updates on the public forums, including information on how to submit written comments in lieu of attending, go to www.dir.ca.gov/DLSE/MRPpubforum1.pdf.
