How Long Does it Take to Fill an IT Position?

Chief information officers (CIOs) say it takes an average of 56 days to fill a staff-level position and 87 days to bring a new manager on board in their IT departments, according to a survey by Robert Half Technology, a staffing firm.

The national poll includes responses from more than 1,400 CIOs from U.S. companies with 100 or more employees.

The survey asked CIOs how long it takes, on average, to fill a full-time staff-level position within their IT department. The mean response was 56 days.

The survey also asked the executives about the length of time it takes to fill a full-time manager-level position within their IT department. The mean response was 87 days.
