Employer Adopts No E-Mail Fridays

PBD Worldwide Fulfillment Services in Georgia has adopted a policy that bars employees from using e-mail to contact co-workers on Fridays, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The only e-mailing employees are allowed to do on Fridays is with customers, the company says.

The company's chief executive tells the newspaper that the company adopted the policy because it wanted to encourage more face-to-face interactions and phone conversations among employees.

"We got to the point as an organization where everything was le-mail," says Scott Dockter, the company's CEO. "It was losing the personal touch. I'm interested in reducing what's become this crutch."
