Ninety-two percent employers are using social networks to find talent in 2012, up from 78 percent five years ago. While LinkedIn continues to be the most popular option, both Facebook and Twitter have seen an increase in use. Two-thirds of companies now recruit through Facebook and more than half (54 percent) use Twitter to find new talent.
In correlation with the increase in use, a majority (71 percent) of HR and recruiting professionals now consider themselves moderate to exceptional social recruiters.
The survey also highlights the effectiveness of recruiting through social media. Here are the results:
- Seventy-three percent of employers have successfully hired a candidate through social media.
- Of those social hires, 89 percent of respondents have hired from LinkedIn, 25 percent through Facebook, and 15 percent through Twitter.
- Forty-three percent say the quality of applicants has improved.
- Twenty percent reported it takes less time to hire when using social recruiting.
