Employer alert: FCRA notices must be updated effective January 1, 2013
By Susan Prince, JD, Legal Editor

Effective January 1, 2013, employers must update their FCRA notices. The forms are being updated to reflect that enforcement of FCRA is now under the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), rather than the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

For a Limited Time receive a FREE HR Report "Critical HR Recordkeeping." This exclusive special report covers hiring records, employment relationships, termination records, litigation issues, electronic information issues, tips for better recordkeeping, and a list of legal requirements.   Download Now

The forms which must be updated include:

  • A Summary of Your Rights Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act
  • Notice to Furnishers of Information: Obligations of Furnishers Under the FCRA
  • Notice to Users of Consumer Reports: Obligations of Users Under the FCRA

For more information on FCRA notices, see the Background Checks analysis.
