California: DWC grants grace period to use revised fact sheets for benefit notices

The California Department of Industrial Relations Division of Workers’ Compensation has posted updated fact sheets for injured workers on its website which provide answers to frequently asked questions about issues affecting their benefits, and include changes mandated by Senate Bill 863.

The Division is providing a grace period until April 28, 2013, to use the revised fact sheets as required for issuance of benefit notices. These fact sheets provide injured workers with answers to frequently asked questions about issues affecting their benefits.

Only the text of a fact sheet is required for compliance. Topics include utilization review, workers’ compensation terms for injured workers, temporary disability benefits, permanent disability benefits, qualified medical evaluators and agreed medical evaluators, and the state’s Uninsured Employers Benefits Trust Fund.
