In a lawsuit, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) alleged that Jeff Wyler Eastgate, Inc. and 10 additional Jeff Wyler-owned dealerships discriminated against 39 qualified women.
In settling the lawsuit, the auto dealerships denied the allegations.
The settlement provides $2.3 million to 39 class members who sought employment in automobile sales positions. The dealerships will also extend job offers to the women and train managers with respect to the anti-discrimination requirements of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
