78% of Workers Approve of "Love" in the Office

>NEW YORK – An overwhelming 78% of employees see nothing wrong with dating their co-workers, according to the Vault Office Romance Survey.

Despite the potential hazards of romance in workplace, 44% of the 419 employees polled admit to having already participated in at least one office romance, and an additional 34% would be willing to do so if the opportunity arose.

When asked to comment on dating in the office, respondents replied:
  • "It was fun and exciting at the time, but when everyone found out, we both suffered."
  • "Dating a coworker makes going to work worth while."
  • "I met my wife on a consulting engagement 6 years ago."
  • "Love can happen anywhere and it is normal for people to meet other people with similar interests at the office. Long hours at work, relaxing after work and similar lifestyles can naturally bring people close together."


Workplace trysts
. A daring 39% of the employees surveyed admitted to having trysts inside the workplace.
While the desk was chosen as the most popular location for a romantic interlude (39%), clandestine affairs occur throughout the office. Other frequented spots include the conference room (35%), the boss' office (18%), and the restroom (17%).

Be advised: 16% of the employers/HR professionals surveyed told Vault that they had caught employees in the midst of an office tryst.
