A top Houston police officer has been placed on paid administrative leave following a female officer's accusations of sexual harassment.
Sources told KPRC Local 2 in Houston that a female officer filed a letter of complaint against Lt. Joseph Buttitta, chief of staff to Police Chief Harold Hurtt, after she voluntarily transferred out of the police chief's office to another position.
The female officer claims she had a romantic relationship with Buttitta but said there was no sex. She said the two kissed and touched at work, and that Buttitta exposed himself one time. Buttitta has denied exposing himself.
One unusual twist in the case: The female officer told officials that she allowed the relationship to carry on too long and admitted that she once accidentally told Buttitta that she loved him instead of saying goodbye.
