HR Strange But True!
March 24, 2011

Last but not least, here’s a submission from a SBT reader who works at a wholesale distributor. According to the reader, they gambled on anything and everything from Survivor, to NASCAR. “You name it, [they] bet on it,” including apparel.

The Tale of a Year-Round Turtleneck
According to the reader, there is one employee who wears a turtleneck for almost the entire year. There are different ones, but she always wears one.

One year someone decided to run a pool to see what date she would take it off. Everyone put in a dollar and whoever was closest to the date won the pot.

Since then, the reader has moved into HR. The reader admits they should have not participated, but they did—and won! “It was hilarious, to say the least. I should be ashamed of myself, but I am not,” says the reader.

Ending on a Positive Note
To end on a positive note, there were a few bets that were in celebration of an employee. For example, one reader participated in a good-natured pool predicting the birth date, time of birth, and weight of an employee's baby.

Thank you HRSBT readers, we appreciate your submissions.
