HR Strange But True!
December 09, 2010

Last month, we ran an ‘HR Strange But True’ article on untraditional ways employers found new talent. True to our article, one reader wrote us with their own similar experience.

Our reader, an HR Director for a manufacturing company, took his wife out to dinner to celebrate their anniversary. According to the reader, his waiter did such a good job of up-selling that the couple ended up spending twice what they had planned to on the meal!

The HR Director was so impressed with the waiter’s skills, that in addition to a tip, he gave the server an opportunity to secure a full-time day job as a customer service representative. The waiter applied for the job, rose to the top of the field of applicants, was hired, and will soon celebrate his first anniversary with the company.
