HR Strange But True!
July 01, 2004

In Berlin, Germany, female traffic officers have won a battle against bad hair, otherwise known as "hat head."

Under a new law, female traffic officers will have the option of working without wearing uniform caps that the officers objected to because the hats ruined their hairdos, Reuters reports.

"The women complained that the caps were hard to fasten and caused considerable problems with their hairdos," says Heinz Buschkowsky, the mayor of the Berlin district of Neukoelln. "We were sympathetic to their wish to get rid of it."

Reuters notes that it is unclear whether the rule allowing female officers to wear a baseball cap or no hat at all applies to men as well.
