Air conditioners get a workout in the tropic climate of Thailand, but the government wants to conserve energy, so it has asked workers to stop wearing suits.

Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra came up with the idea, believing that coming to work in shirtsleeves would ease air-conditioning demands. At its weekly meeting, the cabinet passed a resolution asking all public servants not to wear jackets and urging private employees to do the same.
