HR Strange But True!
May 26, 2011

Lady Gaga has reached the top of Forbes Celebrity 100 list, knocking Oprah out of the No. 1 spot. The "Queen Monster" reached the top spot by embracing social media and staying connected to her followers, once again highlighting the importance of Facebook®, Twitter®, and similar networking sites.

Lady Gaga is not the wealthiest on the celebrity list, coming in at #8 with $90 million. However, Forbes measured entertainment-related earnings as well as media visibility, and that’s where Gaga takes the lead.

The 25-year-old was at the top of the list for web and social media presence. Lady Gaga has over 32 million Facebook friends and more than 10 million Twitter followers, and she often thanks her “little monsters” for their support. In addition, the pop culture icon racked up 5,050,000 Google® news results.

Not bad for someone who was just applying to be an intern! Not sure what we’re talking about? Read An Intern to Go Ga Ga Over. That’s right, the Queen Monster was rumored to have applied for an internship at Philip Treacy, the couture milliner whose label is no stranger to fame. Treacy recently created 36 hats for guests at Will and Kate’s royal wedding, including Princess Beatrice's unique headpiece.
