HR Strange But True!
October 21, 2010

Earlier this summer, we reported on employees who get married at work. It looks like weddings in the workplace may be catching on, as one fast-food giant is now offering McWeddings in select locations.

That’s right, McDonald’s lives up to its “I’m lovin’ it” slogan by offering couples in love the chance to have their wedding ceremonies and receptions at one of three Hong Kong franchises, according to a MSNBC report.

A company spokeswoman notes that many couples had their first dates, fell in love, and even got engaged at McDonald’s, so “it makes it particularly meaningful and memorable to hold a wedding party there.”

What’s on the menu? The wedding includes a tower of McDonald’s apple pies in place of the traditional cake, a menu of typical fast-food items, and Happy Meal toys as wedding favors!

How's the service? Employees who work the receptions will not only have to cater to the wedding guests but also regular patrons. The McDonald's will not close down the restaurants for a couples’ special day.
